About

Finding Poetry & Spoken Word nights in London shouldn’t be hard… there’s loads of them.

So, you love words, or you wouldn’t be here. I love words too, especially the spoken one’s. What I don’t like though, is organising stuff; and finding poetry nights can involve a lot of admin.

Some nights are on Instagram, some on Twitter, some on Facebook, some on Eventbrite, and some are only talked about in hushed tones or via rumour.

Because of this, I started collating Spoken Word nights on a spreadsheet, and through this I developed a desire to help other people find Where The Word Things Live.

What started as an effort to make my life easier, turned into a project that I feel is pretty important.

The poetry/spoken word scene isn’t small by any means, but it’s usually done by people without much money or loads of time, and life is hard enough without having to advertise the night you run for free.

Thankfully, I’m not doing this alone, I have the help of M3R3D1T4 of Speak.Easy.London, who has spent two years creating an extensive list of nights.

I hope that this will become a useful tool to help poets and poetry-lovers find awesome nights to go to, and also help poetry/spoken word nights reach a wider audience.
